Happy Wednesday, Tritons! We hope you are all enjoying your time on campus, and in the Library! Let's make this fall quarter unforgettable. Scroll through the publication for activities to support your mental and physical well-being whenever you need a break. Throughout the quarter, we'll be sharing biweekly tips and activities to help you de-stress and center yourself, regardless of where you are tuning in from.

MEDITATION SPACES

Check out the open reflection and meditation spaces in Geisel Rooms 621 and 628.

 

The Calm Cave and Zen Den are meant to be used as spaces to retreat from studying, relax, pause, breathe deeply, and clear your mind.

 

These space incorporates feedback from library users, campus partners, and the Library Student Advisory Council. The collection of books (Calm Cave only) and lounge furniture were selected to help you relax and reflect.

LO-FI STUDY JAM @ GIESEL

The Library is opening up a quiet space for a midterms study jam filled with beats from popular Lo-Fi hip hop radio stations, coffee & tea, and chill vibes. Bring anything you're working on and drop in anytime between 3-6pm for a dedicated productivity time.

EMBODIED PACIFIC: REDRESS - A SEWING CIRCLE WITH LAURYN SMITH

Join us for a hands-on sewing circle with artist Lauryn Smith, where we’ll create garments honoring the contributions of oceanographers Easter Ellen Cupp, June Pattullo, and Anita Smith Hall.

 

In this workshop, participants will use patterns designed by Lauryn Smith specifically for these pioneering women, addressing their absence in the history of oceanography. This event is part of the  Embodied Pacific: Three Lives exhibition, currently on display in the Exhibition Gallery at Geisel Library.

 

No prior sewing experience is required. Material and tools will be provided. If you have a sewing kit, feel free to bring it along! This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited, so registration is required.

 

This project is supported by the Getty Foundation’s region-wide PST ART: Art and Science Collide initiative and the Fall 2024 Embodied Pacific platform of programming at UC San Diego.
